EU, US, Jpn, Kor May Drop Duties on Taiwanese Multichip ICs

At GAMS (Governments/Authorities Meeting on Semiconductors), an annual meeting attended by EU, US, Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese government and semiconductor interests, parties have agreed to sign an accord to eliminate duties on multi-chip ICs starting January 1, 2006. Existing tariffs in these four countries on imports originating from Taiwan currently run between 1% and 2.6%.
